Several years ago, I was reviewing some Audio Tech Book Summaries and learned that organizations tend to fall into 4 operating profiles. These profiles are largely influenced by the Chief Executive.
The first profile is Underperformer and this is the worst. In this case, the organization lacks adequate focus on revenue growth or cost savings.
The second profile is Profit Seeker. This type of organization may be run by someone who had been a CFO or Operations Executive. The focus here is on cost-savings. Unfortunately, you cannot continue to cut your way to success.
The third profile is Revenue Grower. This type of organization may be run by someone who had been a Sales Executive. The organization seems to see opportunities everywhere and is focused (excessively so) on sales growth.
The fourth profile is Value Builder and here there is more of a balanced focus on increasing sales, while managing costs. Obviously, this is the ideal profile to shoot for.
What’s your profile as an organizational leader? Are you achieving a balance in your focus?
