LTC’s management has a wealth of expertise creating Executive Compensation & Performance Solutions. We have hands-on experience in creating Executive Compensation plans and related strategies within the publicly traded, private, and non profit sectors. We are passionate about finding performance solutions to help improve productivity, profitability, culture and/or organizational value.


Larry Comp Larry Comp serves as LTC’s President and oversees all projects related to Total Compensation Solutions for private, publicly traded and non profit organizations. Larry has personally consulted with over 350 organizations across industry. This has included hundreds of initiatives related to Executive Compensation, Board Compensation, Partnership Compensation, Nonqualified Deferred Compensation, Company-wide Goalsharing and Gainsharing Incentive Programs, “Hot Skills” Programs, Long-term Equity and Cash Plans, Sales Compensation, Reasonable Compensation Analysis, Salary Management and Performance Development Programs.

Larry is co-author of the book, “Executive Compensation for Private Company CEOs and Business Owners.”  He previously held leadership roles with Baxter Healthcare, Nissan Motor and Babcock and Wilcox. Larry earned his Masters in Human Resources Management and has been recognized as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). He currently serves as a Director for a nationally recognized Financial Services Corporation and member of the Compensation Committee for a prominent ESOP.

Terry Lauter Comp Terry Lauter Comp is a founding principal of LTC, with 20+ years’ experience as a Corporate HR Vice President, national/international consultant, graduate/undergraduate business instructor, author, and community leader. She serves as Practice Leader for Performance Development solutions and Employee Engagement.

Terry has an extensive background in planning and implementing large-scale culture change initiatives in forward-thinking organizations. She has been recognized as a pioneer in the area of Open Book Management and Business Literacy, an innovative and proven means of building an engaged workforce and a culture of accountability. She has assisted many of our clients in developing a “Corporate University” and has designed, developed and/or facilitated curriculums and programs for organizations across industry. Terry supports clients in assessing development needs, and designing and facilitating customized programs and performance solutions. She also works with client organizations in developing and implementing simple, practical tools for communicating with employees effectively in order to improve productivity, culture, and organizational value. Her integrated communication programs and tools have won wide acclaim.

Terry is co-author of the book, “Think Inside the Box: The Secret to Partnering with Your Employees to Drive Growth & Profit.” Terry has taught countless management courses as a Corporate Executive, HRD consultant and university instructor. She was recognized for her teaching excellence at the University of Redlands. Terry received her MA degree in Educational Psychology from UCLA and has been accredited as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Steve-Small- BWSteve Smith serves as LTC Performance’s Director of Client Solutions. Since joining LTC in 2009, Steve has consulted on hundreds of client initiatives in the fields of Executive and Total Compensation for Private, Public & Non Profit Companies. These initiatives include the analysis, design, development, and implementation of: Executive Compensation Programs, Restricted Stock Plans, Stock Option Plans, Performance Share Plans, Phantom Stock Plans, Management Incentive Plans, Long-Term Incentive Plans, Sales Compensation Plans, Company-wide Incentive Plans and Salary Management Plans.

Steve’s passion is developing solutions that allow clients to utilize their Total Compensation Program in order to attract and retain top caliber talent, while realizing a solid return on investment. Steve strives to ensure clients’ plans achieve a strong pay-for-performance relationship, while being externally competitive and internally equitable.

Steve holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Woodbury University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Law from California State University, Northridge. He is co-author of the book, “Executive Compensation for Private Company CEOs and Business Owners.” 

Kal Peters

Kal Peters manages LTC Performance Strategies' Northern California office and serves as the organization's Practice Leader for Business Essentials Training. Over the last 10+ years, Kal has played a key role in the design, development, training and communication of leading-edge programs to improve employee engagement/productivity, financial performance and organizational culture. Kal also serves as the key client liason with LTC’s executive benefits/nonqualified deferred compensation clients.

Prior to joining LTC Performance Strategies, Kal held executive roles with Dun & Bradstreet and World Savings. Kal received her Bachelor’s Degree from UCLA and holds Series 6 and 63 licenses. She is co-author of the forthcoming book, “Think Inside the Box: The Secret to Partnering with Your Employees to Drive Growth & Profit.
